In 1986 I acted on an idea that was God inspired--taking dog and cat pictures. Since I had only a good point and shoot camera, I shrugged off the idea.

Then one day as I was getting ready to take my dog for a walk the idea came again, this time very strongly. I realized I had better listen to the voice of the Spirit.

Ideas came flooding in and by the end of the walk I said, “OK Lord, what about a name, one that describes the business and is memorable?” ‘Pet Antics’ was the answer. My husband encouraged me and said I would need a portfolio and a business license. I enlisted the aid of a creative and artistic brother and sister team who at the time were teenagers, and the logo was born. I knew this was a door of opportunity that was opening for me. I also knew that the next few years would be years of learning as we were still in the military and were subject to moves.

We were sent to England where I honed my skills and started photographing people on a regular basis. Always learning what worked and what didn’t. The result is the two photo businesses: Pet Antics and Picture ‘You’. We moved back to Rapid City in 1994 and I applied for and received our business license in 1997.

In 1999 Deb Hunt “discovered” me. She was opening a Pet Bakery in downtown Rapid City and asked me if I would like to be a part of her store. She was looking for a compatible business. She offered me one big window where I could display my photos and her window has her gift and display items. I agreed and have been taking pictures ever since.
